Sustainable, durable and tactile, wood is an incredible resource which for me, as for many others, incites creativity. Each species has its own specific characteristics and qualities and each individual tree will produce a unique material with which to build and shape.
I try to work with the nature of each timber to find designs with balance and integrity, creating forms which are exciting to look at whilst also providing something of purpose. I draw on skills and techniques built up through the long tradition of this craft which rely on precision and feeling. It is a process of working which stands in stark contrast to mass production and instead reflects sensitivity, individuality and passion.
Winged Symmetry
These pieces were all designed with a focus on the balance and harmony offered by symmetry and inspired by forms found in flying animals.
