Mike, born in Yorkshire but has lived in Cumbria for over 20 years.  I do not know when the photographic bug hit me, but I remember being given an inexpensive camera at the age of 10.  Over the years I have used numerous cameras gradually settling on 3 hard working Leica cameras.  I use digital but prefer the use of film.  I attempt to capture an image as close to the conditions of the day without enhancement.  The preservation and protection of our environment is a strong ethos of mine and whether it is the landscape or the wildlife within.  I have always been fascinated by water, its effect on our landscape and ourselves.  Water has a majesty all of it’s own that can be destructive yet creative at the same time.  My images start on the remote Isles of Lewis and Harris in the Outer Hebrides, a serene wilderness when the weather is fair but hard and unforgiving when the isles are lashed with the ferocious Atlantic gales. Then continue through the Highlands of Scotland into the English Lake District and Yorkshire, through Europe to New Zealand and Iceland.
