The fleeting qualities of light and colour excite me. I am trying to grasp the internal qualities, the essential mood and spirit of place. Sometimes I use a straightforward, representational approach but, increasingly, I am using more abstracted forms. I love to experiment with texture and colour and follow themes and ideas in lots of work, large and small.

I have exhibited with the Royal Academy, the Manchester Academy, in several other galleries in the Manchester area and worked freelance as an illustrator for  architects and advertising agencies.

Now living in Kendal and working at home and in association with the Green Door Studios, I still do some freelance work but now concentrate on my own work and enjoy the stimulation of other friendly artists.

I love the wilderness areas, gardening and walking. Colour and light fascinate me and have provided the stimulus for many of my recent paintings. I have also found an increasing urge to explore these avenues using more abstract forms of expression.
