'Northumberland Rock Strata'

Exhibition 9th October - 23rd December 2008

I am a textile designer/maker working in constructed textiles.  The natural world is full of incredible colours, textures and patterns and this is the main inspiration behind my work. In particular, rock strata found on a small section of beach in Northumberland has formed the basis for my most recent work. I have explored subtle colour changes within my weaving, using dyeing and painting techniques to colour the warp threads with dyes. The semi-transparent pieces could be used in interiors as room dividers, window dressings or wall pieces. Smaller work could be used as fashion scarves.
